Welcome to Woodworking Matters 4.0, use the links above to get around and learn more about my projects and woodworking in general. Everything here, including plans, is free as I want this site to be a place where I can pass along so much of the wonderful advice and help I’ve picked up along the years from woodworking friends across the country.

Wood + Work = Wonderful Results
Wood + Work = Wonderful Results

Well, it’s not really that easy but you have to break a few eggs to make a good omelet but if I can help you out by sharing what I’ve learned over the years then I’m happy.

I wanna’ step in a pile of projects.

Don’t Do What Drew Did
Don’t Do What Drew Did

You just know when it is time to go to the hospital. On Mother’s Day, 2001 I suffered my first and only serious woodworking related injury and it just goes to show that even when you are being diligent and careful this can be a dangerous hobby.

I think, therefore I plan

As an alternative to working hard, I like to work smart. That means using methods and techniques I’m familiar with as much as I can. As such, following traditional plans can get frustrating if they use joinery methods and tools I don’t have on hand. Don’t get me wrong, I like to try new things but when time and/or engineering matter, go with what you know. All of my plans are really more CAD drawings than detailed plans but once you get used to working with them, you’ll wonder why you ever followed traditional plans like some sort of woodworking lemming.

“But wait! There’s less!”

Because everyone is entitled to my opinion
Because everyone is entitled to my opinion

One fine Spring day it dawned on me that I could combine two of my lifelong passions into one useful offering: telling people what I think and not spending my hard earned money on ineffective junk. Voila, product reviews. Granted, these are all from the days before adding video to web pages and blogs became easy (or for that matter, before I purchased a descent digital camera) but at least the content is still top notch!

Lay some knowledge on me!
