On Monday, 6/16/2003, Storm,
our cat of 11 years, passed away unexpectedly. It was the most
difficult thing we've had to do and when she left she took a part of our
heart with her. The following weekend I made one final project for her:
a box to serve as her final resting place. I had to stop several times
during the construction because it was all too emotional. She loved
playing in boxes so making a box for her to rest seemed an appropriate
thing to do. It's a very simple design, much like my other small boxes.
The material is solid ebony with holly trim and a solid holly bottom
panel and this combination seemed appropriate since she was a tuxedo
kitty. The Chinese character on the back was made with a wood burner
and says "Storm". I'll miss making projects for her and hearing her
call to me while I worked in the shop and you can see several pictures
of her throughout the projects & pictures pages. Many, many thanks to
